Microvascular Anastomosis Course

3rd-4th July 2018

MASH Lab – Barts and The London School of Medicine

We successfully hosted our first two-day Neuromicrovascular Anastomosis (Hands-on) Simulation Course at the MASH LAB. This is a fantastic facility with 10 Leica Microscopes.

Stations on microvascular anastomosis techniques using non-living biological models included:

  • End-to end arterial anastomosis techniques (Bi-angulation, triangulation, on way up techniques),
  • End-to-side arterio-venous anastomosis,
  • Side-to-side arterial anastomosis.

The course also offered opportunities for simulation of microvascular anastomosis technique and participants demonstrated marked improvement in their speed and economy of movement with simulation.
